There is an old saying in audiology, “we hear with our ears, but we listen with our brains”. At Aberdeen Audiology, we realize that just focusing on hearing aids, cochlear implants, and remote microphones is not enough. We’ve developed a program using evidence-based techniques to help your brain better decipher the sounds that your ears are delivering to it. We are able to train the brain to comprehend speech up to 40% better in difficult listening situations such as noisy restaurants, rapid speakers and competing speakers.
- Via HIPPA-compliant video conferencing that can easily be done on any computer, smartphone, or tablet with an internet connection, Dr. Goyne will ask you questions regarding the types of listening and communication issues you are having. If our auditory rehabilitation program is right for you, we move on to Step 2.
- At your convenience, you perform listening exercises on any computer, smartphone, or tablet with an internet connection. Statistics regarding your performance are monitored by Dr. Goyne. He will provide feedback as needed and you are certainly welcome to reach out to him with questions.
- After the exercises are fully-completed, you and Dr. Goyne will have another conversation via video conference or telephone to go over your final results and discuss further steps, if needed.
